HouseMatch PUNE · SHARED FLAT

Who is looking, and what does each of you need?

Add each person and what they actually require. Nothing is matched until you run it, and a flat only qualifies if it satisfies everyone’s non-negotiables.

Two ways to do this. Add all three yourself if you already know what they need — answers you enter for someone else are labelled, so the group can see which ones to go back and confirm. Or create a shared group and send the others a link, and each of them fills in her own form. Nobody sees anybody else’s answers until all three are in.

How the rent is split, and why it is checked per person

Rent is divided equally, then each share is checked against that person’s own ceiling. A flat is affordable only when it is affordable for everyone independently.

Adding the budgets together and comparing the total to the rent would pass flats that quietly overcommit whoever has the smallest budget. Under an equal split, the tightest ceiling in the group sets the rent limit for all three — worth knowing out loud rather than discovering in month two.

Traffic

Journeys are checked at weekday office hours by default, because that is when the commute that matters actually happens.

Their requirements

Answer for what they actually need, not what you think they should want.

Who

Coordinating carries no weight in the matching. Nobody can override anybody else’s dealbreakers.

Money

The building

Only tick what genuinely has to be true. Anything here can eliminate a flat on its own.

Places they must be able to reach

The one that usually goes unsaid until somebody has already fallen for a flat. Give the destination and the longest journey they would actually accept.

Areas they will not consider

Leave everything unticked if they are open to all of them.

Things they’d like but could live without

Every item is checked against a real field on the listing, which is why the list is fixed rather than free text. These never eliminate a flat — they show up as what is being given up.
